2004 Show Report
The first Woodham Ferrers & Bicknacre Dog Show was held on 17th July 2004 raising money for the Woodham Ferrers Village Hall, play equipment at The Hooe Playing Field in Bicknacre and The Fell and Moorland Working Terrier Club.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't too kind to us, and a lot of people had to go before their dogs became too distressed by the thunder, but we battled on regardless and managed to raise £350 after costs, which was doubled by Jardine Lloyd Thompson, who have a charity matching scheme for their employees.
There were about 200 people in attendance with their dogs and we were delighted that the Essex Chronicle saw fit to put us on their front page.
Our judges were Jean Driscoll (Companion Show), Bryn Chittenden (terriers), Andrew Brewer (lurchers) and Lee Brett (ferrets).
2005 Show Report
The second Woodham Ferrers & Bicknacre Show was held on the 23rd July 2005 raising money for St Mary's Church in Woodham Ferrers, The Bicknacre Pre-School and The Fell and Moorland Working Terrier Club. We raised over £300 which was matched again by Jardine Lloyd Thompson.
We were lucky that we received a massive sponsorship donation from Chelmer Tenants Forum and were able to enlarge the show somewhat. Also, thanks to a donation from Paul Bailey Car Sales, we were able to purchase perpetual trophies that bear their name. Unfortunately, our ferret champion didn't return their trophy which meant unnecessary expense in 2006, but that's life.
Our judges in 2005 were Doreen Bowen (Pedigree Classes), Marion Hodgson (Novelty & Crossbred classes), Lee Ludlam (terriers), Louise Croucher (lurchers) and James Pegram (ferrets).
